On the morning of 26 August 2026, a massive ice and rock avalanche occurred in the Himalayas near the border between Nepal and Tibet, triggering devastating mud and debris flows. The Rasuwa District, north of Kathmandu, along the Bhote Koshi–Trishuli river system, has been particularly severely affected. The floods and debris flows have destroyed or severely damaged entire settlements, roads, bridges and hydropower facilities. More than 1,000 people are currently reported missing, and hundreds have lost their lives. The full extent of the disaster is only gradually becoming apparent.

Today, NAG deployed the NAG Mobile Clinic to Bidur in Nuwakot to assess the situation on the ground and identify the most urgent needs of the affected communities. The situation is heartbreaking, and the scale of the destruction is immense.

Urgently needed medicines were handed over to the municipality’s health authorities. NAG remains in close contact with the local authorities to ensure that further assistance can be provided as effectively and according to the needs on the ground as possible. However, the most severely affected areas are currently still inaccessible. Roads and access routes have been completely blocked by the floods and debris, meaning that the NAG Mobile Clinic is not yet able to reach the communities most severely affected.

During this difficult time, NAG stands with the affected communities. Every contribution matters. As soon as access routes become passable again, the NAG Mobile Clinic will travel to the hardest-hit areas to provide medical care and deliver assistance where it is needed most.

To enable us to support those affected – especially children and their families – as comprehensively as possible during this extraordinary emergency, we rely on your support.
